LEBANON — The Pioneers had a solid outing to pick up their first Southwest District volleyball win.
Lebanon notched a 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-18) victory at Charles C. Long Gymnasium on Monday. The G-Girls were in each set.
“We did just enough,” Lebanon coach Dennis Price said. “Graham played hard. They had good serves that were tough to handle, it was hard for us to run any offense at times. They gave us all we could handle, but on the other side, the girls found a way to win those sets.”
Graham had a kill from Nathaly Du to tie the first set for the eighth time at 18-all. Bailey Collins followed with a spike to put the Pioneers up, and they never trailed again, holding on for a two-point win.
“It was tight, but we played well to pull back through,” said senior Lebanon hitter Braylee Tincher. “There was a lot of pressure, but we kept going and played together.”
Set two was just as close. It was tied for a fifth time at 19, then Du had a block to give the G-Girls their first lead in the second set, 20-19.
Lebanon evened up the score on an attack error by Graham. Freshman Jaiden Fields had a kill to put the Pioneers up, and Gabbie Steele served an ace for a 22-20 advantage. Tincher had two late kills as Lebanon went up 2-0 in the game.
“This is my first year playing middle [hitter],” Tincher said. “Recently, I‘ve gotten a lot more comfortable. I’ve been working on it a lot. Coach Price and Coach [Kevin] Farmer have been helping me swing around the blocks, so that’s helped.”
