May is Mental Health Awareness Month. May 9, 2024, has been selected as the date for Virginia to recognize Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day (CMHAD). The goal of this day is to raise awareness of the importance of every child’s mental health. Intentionally engaging in activities that boost mental health should be prioritized as much as routine physical care. Using resources from the Virginia Department of Education, LES will engage students in activities designed to improve mental health. Below is a calendar with daily activities for students and families. #mentalhealthmatters #selfcare #loveyourself #pioneerpower

LES had our 1st Annual Career Fair for 3rd and 4th grade students today. Career exploration is part of our curriculum, so Ms. Andie Meade and Mrs. Penny Bailey planned this event to help our students learn about a variety of careers. Several community members came and shared their careers with our students. The Russell County Career and Technology Center collaborated with us and students from many of the programs there came and talked with students about their specific program. Today was a great success. Our students now have first hand knowledge on so many different career options as they look toward their future! Thanks to everyone who shared their expertise with our students. #pioneerpower
