As LeeAnna McNulty’s basketball career nears its end, the Honaker High School graduate will do what she’s always done and that is play hard, stay positive and make an impact.
“Knowing that I only have six games at the most remaining in my career is unbelievable,” McNulty said. “I do not feel like reality has set in yet, but I am going out on the court and giving it my all for myself and my teammates.”
Playing for the University of the Cumberlands Williamsburg, Kentucky, McNulty will be back on the court Friday when the Patriots host Eastern Oregon in the first round of the NAIA national tournament.
This will be the fourth NAIA national tourney for McNulty – three at Cumberlands and one at Pikeville, where she began her collegiate career.
Last year the Patriots reached the Final Four a season ago before losing in the semifinals.
“It was an amazing experience to have the opportunity to play in the Final Four last year and will be memories that I cherish for a lifetime,” McNulty said.
McNulty is averaging 7.8 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.
