GIRLS BASKETBALL

Honaker 55, Tri-Cities Christian 25

Seniors Alayna McNulty and Kalli Miller were the tone-setters as the Honaker Tigers avenged their only loss of the season in a major way by trouncing Tri-Cities Christian.

A 21-0 run to close the first half was the difference and enabled Honaker to improve its record to 20-1. The Tigers had lost to Tri-Cities 66-58 back on Dec. 13 but have reeled off 19 straight wins since that early-season setback.

“It was a good win for the girls over a good basketball team,” said Honaker coach Misty Davis Miller. “It was one of the best defensive games I’ve seen them play.”

McNulty finished with 22 points, seven rebounds and four steals, while Miller went for 14 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Freshman Julianna Farmer (11 points, seven rebounds, six assists, three steals) also played a big role.

“I couldn’t be more proud of the defensive effort of the girls tonight,” Misty Davis Miller said. “The team is working hard and improving each game.”

Emery Haws scored 16 of Tri-Cities’ 25 points. Tennessee High transfer Janell Tabor played, but did not score for the Eagles.
