Julianna Farmer is just a freshman for the Honaker Tigers, but she has been fantastic thus far.
She went for 18 points, six rebounds and three steals as Honaker cruised to a win in the first round of the Coach Ballard Lee Invitational at the Bearcat Den in Bristol.
“To be a freshman, Juju is stepping up strong from the beginning,” said Honaker coach Misty Davis Miller. “She had a great game tonight.”
Alayna McNulty (17 points, 12 rebounds), Kalli Miller (15 points, five steals, three rebounds, three assists) and Carey Keene (eight rebounds) also played well. Honaker led 40-9 at halftime.
“I am very proud of this team’s progress,” Miller said. “They are working extremely hard and it showed on the floor tonight.”
Honaker plays George Wythe on Friday at 4 p.m. in the semifinals. The Tigers topped GW in last year’s VHSL Class 1 state quarterfinals and the teams have played several postseason contests through the years.
“[George Wythe coach] Doug [Campbell] always has a good program and I am excited to play them Friday,” Miller said. “It will be a good test for us, both teams know each other well and have similar styles of play. I think it will be an exciting game.”
