Russell County Career and Technology Center hosted an advisory dinner on May 2 for members of the school’s various advisory committees. The dinner was prepared by RCCTC’s culinary arts students.
The event got underway with a moment of silence for members of the RCCTC family who had passed this year. This included former principal and system superintendent Larry Massie, Kim Davis, Roger Glovier and Aaron Buchanan.
Greg Mullins, Director of Testing and CTE Supervisor, told members of the various advisory committees that several changes are coming to the school.
Mullins said the county will adopt block scheduling for the 2024-2025 school year. He also said 10 new courses will be coming to RCCTC.
“Our students will not just be college ready but career ready,” he said.
Principal Larry Rasnake announced that RCCTC students had an exceptional run at the SkillsUSA state competition, including four gold ribbon winners.
Winning gold were Jeard Duty in Bricklaying, Booker Steffey in Masonry, Payton King in Welding Sculpture and Joscelyn Grizzle and Haven Johnson in Job Demonstration A — Criminal Justice.
Seth Coterel and Alex Stiltner earned silver medals in Job Demonstration Open — Criminal Justice.
Scott Smith won bronze in Bricklaying Terrance Jones also won bronze in Masonry.
