HONAKER, Va. – There was a revival Friday night in Honaker.

The setting was the Honaker Tigers football field house and the reaction was immediate.

“We talked as a team at halftime and asked ourselves if we really wanted this to be our last game,” Honaker senior Aidan Lowe said. “Several seniors stepped up and had some really good speeches.”

Those impassioned speeches led to a 30-15 comeback win for the Honaker Tigers over the Rural Retreat Indians in the opening round of the Region 1D playoff.

Honaker (11-0) managed just 132 total yards in the first half and fell behind 15-8.

Following their emotional halftime chat, the Tigers came out recharged in the second half with a quick tempo and heavy dose of power ball.

With Lowe carrying the ball on the first three plays, the Tigers scored on their opening drive of the third quarter to a 16-15 advantage.

What was the revised plan for Honaker?
