James Mitchell and Jordan Stout

Jordan Stout will exit the field at Baltimore’s M&T Bank Stadium this afternoon with a prized piece of memorabilia to add to his collection.

The punter for the Baltimore Ravens and Detroit Lions tight end James Mitchell are going to be reunited on Sunday when their teams meet in a marquee 1 p.m. matchup that will be televised locally on FOX.

These two dudes go way back and are linked in more ways than one.

Both first gained fame as high school football players in far Southwest Virginia: Stout with the Honaker Tigers and Mitchell with the Union Bears.

They were teammates together with the Virginia Tech Hokies for one season in 2018 prior to Stout transferring to Penn State.

Stout and Mitchell were both selected in the 2022 NFL Draft – Stout in the fourth round, Mitchell in the fifth – and are in their second seasons as pros.

Heck, they were born one year and one week apart: Stout arrived in the world on Aug. 4, 1998 and Mitchell did so on Aug. 11, 1999.

Today, they will be in the same stadium for the first time as pros and the pals plan to mark the occasion by trading mementos.
