Lowe and Lowe

HONAKER, Va. – By now you have the lowdown on Honaker High School’s high-flying, high-scoring offense, but the fact that the Tigers have a pretty darn good defense is no longer on the downlow.

Linebackers Aidan Lowe and Malachi Lowe led the way for a defensive unit that forced four turnovers and limited Chilhowie to 188 yards of total offense in a 36-8 Hogoheegee District win over the Warriors on Friday night at Fuller Field.

Honaker (6-0, 2-0) has started a season with six consecutive victories for the first time in nine years and the Tigers received three touchdown passes from Peyton Musick and big plays from the likes of Aidan Lowe and Parker Bandy as usual.

However, this night belonged to the defense.

“They stepped up and I tell you, I can’t be more proud of them,” said Honaker coach Todd Tiller. “We had an off night offensively tonight, but the defense stepped up and led us. We got hats to the ball. I really can’t say enough about our defense and how well they played.”
